The YASC Wuhan Base kickoff meeting was successfully held at the Optics Valley Science Island on December 1, 2023. As a crucial part of YASC’s development strategy, the smooth construction and operation of Wuhan Base is essential to the company’s development and growth. Relevant leaders of Wuhan East Lake Hi-tech Development Zone, shareholders, investors, partners, general contractor and engineering teams gathered at the meeting, and witnessed this important moment together with the YASC management team.

YASC Wuhan Base, located at the Optics Valley Science Island, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, includes the 23-hectare (344 mu) first phase with a CNY 10 billion expected investment. It mainly focuses on the third-generation semiconductor power device research, development and production, and is committed to building a modern semiconductor manufacturing base integrated with chip design, manufacturing and advanced technology R&D. Wuhan Base has moved fast and efficiently with the strong support of the government and relevant units since the agreement on rolling out the project at the Optics Valley Science Island was signed on August 25 this year.

Chen Zhongguo, President of YASC, first extended to all the guests a warm welcome and heartfelt gratitude in his opening remarks. He said that the Wuhan Base project cannot be implemented without the strong support from the government, shareholders and partners. He hopes, everyone can see through the Wuhan Base kickoff meeting that YASC has taken solid strides in becoming a leading wide bandgap semiconductor company in the world. He also hopes the project construction and supporting entities to work together to make Wuhan Base a fully intelligent world-class benchmark SiC device manufacturing factory.

After that, Li Gang, General Manager of YASC Wuhan Chip Fabrication Plant and Project Manager of Wuhan Base, led the general contractor and all participating entities of Wuhan Base to take the oath. Zhuang Dan, Executive Director and President of YOFC and Chairman of YASC, handed over a flag to the representative who took the oath, and in his remarks put forward three major requirements for project construction, “safety first, quality first, speed first”. He expressed his hope that all the participants go all out to push the Wuhan Base construction with growing enthusiasm and confidence, and make greater contribution to the continuously growing YASC and the thriving global third-generation semiconductor industry.

Huang Feng, Vice Director of Administration Committee of Wuhan East Lake Hi-tech Development Zone, delivered remarks on behalf of the committee. He said that YASC Wuhan Base, located in the core part of Wuhan New Town, is the first project in Wuhan New Town. He hopes all the participating construction entities live up to expectations and ensure the project structure is topped out and products are mass-produced as soon as possible, with guaranteed project safety, quality and cost control. He hopes that all the government departments of East Lake Hi-tech Development Zone respond to the enterprise’s concerns, think from its perspective, and genuinely and sincerely help the enterprise solve major difficult problems in project implementation, and jointly lay the most robust foundation for creating a better tomorrow for Wuhan New Town and YASC.

In addition, Lin Zuojiang, Chairman of China Construction First Group Construction & Development Co., Ltd., Yang Bo, General Manager of State Grid East Lake New Technology Development Zone Electricity Company, and Thomas Fulde, General Manager of Ovivo Water Technology (China) Co., Ltd., delivered remarks on behalf of the project general contractor and construction participants respectively.

At present, third-generation semiconductors, represented by silicon carbide, have become the commanding heights in the global technology race, as the manufacturing technology level and industrial scale are directly related to national economic and technological development.
