Li Dianxun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee and Governor of the People’s Government of Hubei Province, conducted research on the development of the optoelectronic information industry at Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone on the afternoon of October 31. He made an inspection tour specially at YASC Wuhan Base, and deeply learned about the company’s cutting-edge technologies in third-generation semiconductors as well as industrial development. Chen Yongwen, Vice Governor of Hubei Provincial Government, participated in the research project.

Silicon carbide (SiC) is a typical representative third-generation semiconductor material with various material advantages such as high temperature tolerance, high voltage tolerance, operating at higher frequency, and low loss. It has been widely used across a variety of sectors including new energy vehicles (NEV), wind-solar-storage, smart grids, data centers and rail transit. SiC is the “next-generation power semiconductor” leading the way forward in the new energy field.
On the research site, Zhuang Dan, Executive Director and President of YOFC and Chairman of YASC, first extended a warm welcome to Li’s delegation, and expressed sincere gratitude to the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee and Hubei Provincial Government for their longstanding support and assistance to YASC. Chen Zhongguo, President of YASC, briefed Governor Li on the company’s production and operation, and introduced the SiC industry overview, market and application prospects.
Governor Li listened to the briefing on the company’s project construction and product R&D. He hopes that enterprises are demand-driven and market-oriented, proactively respond to the new demand for “intelligent, green and integrated” transformation in consumption and production in the new era, and launch more innovative products with core competitiveness by strengthening industry-academia-research collaboration in making innovation; he urges Wuhan to optimize enterprise assistance services, and support enterprises in better accessing to financial resources, expanding market opportunities and accelerating development and growth.
YASC Wuhan Base, located at the Optics Valley Science Island, Wuhan East Lake Hi-tech Development Zone, mainly focuses on the development and manufacturing of third-generation semiconductor power devices, represented by silicon carbide (SiC). The base has steadily improved the yield rate and product reliability since it went into production in May this year. Looking ahead, YASC will also live up to the trust, remains committed to innovation-driven development, unremittingly ramp up breakthroughs and innovations on core technologies in key fields, and enhance product competitiveness; at the same time, it will actively work with industry peers to build compound semiconductor industry clusters represented by silicon carbide, and help the Chinese silicon carbide industry move fast.
