OBC

OBC

The on-board charger (OBC) is an electrical system in electric vehicles that can charge high-voltage batteries from the AC grid. The grid voltage is connected to the on-board charger via a ground AC charging station or AC charging port to charge the EV battery. The use of SiC devices in the OBC can achieve efficient power conversion for typical 400V and 800V systems, and support the future use requirements for bi-directional power flows.

The OBC is an AC-DC converter consisting of PFC and DC-DC circuits. The most common OBC power levels include 3.3KW, 6.6KW, 11KW and 22KW, where the 1-phase PFC power levels are 3.3KW and 6.6KW; and the 3-phase PFC levels are 11KW and 22KW.
