Anhui YOFC Advanced Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (“YASC”) and Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. (“Chery Automobile”) successfully held the signing ceremony of strategic cooperation agreement on Automotive Chip Joint Laboratory on October 20. In the future, the companies will leverage technology and resource advantages in their respective fields, extensively collaborate in automotive-grade chips, the application in vehicles, and market development, and fuel the development of the Chinese automotive-grade chip industry. Chen Zhongguo, President of YASC, and Guo Yuhui, Chip Planning Director of Chery Automobile Research and Development Institute, completed the signing on behalf of the parties.
Signing Details
With the rapid development of new energy vehicles (NEVs), the Chinese automotive electronics industry has ushered in a new round of growth. As a key power device in the NEV transition from 400V to 800V, the silicon carbide (SiC) chip is becoming an important configuration in automotive electronics for its superior features and performance.
To better meet the future NEV needs and ensure their application development, innovation and evaluation capabilities for new types of power control systems, automakers and chipmakers must reinforce cooperation, and pool strengths to drive technological innovation and industrial development, said Guo Yuhui, Chip Planning Director of Chery Automobile Research and Development Institute. This strategic cooperation on Automotive Chip Joint Laboratory represents the shared pursuit of Chery Automobile and YASC in technological innovation and industrial development. By fully utilizing their advantages and resources, he believes, the companies can engage in sound interactions and win-win cooperation in automotive electronics, and push forward rapid iteration of relevant technologies and coordinated development of the industry.
Chen Zhongguo, President of YASC, pointed out that as the domestic mass production of SiC chips used in NEV traction inverters has not yet materialized, chipmakers and automakers need to deeply combine their expertise, and continuously adjust SiC chip technology development, iteration and evolution according to customer needs. YASC and Chery Automobile, both headquartered in Wuhu City, Anhui Province, share the same geographic location and culture of independent innovation. In the trend of explosive NEV demand growth, he believes, the cooperation between the companies will surely inject new vitality into the future of the NEV industry and promote coordinated development of vehicle and chip industries.
Signing Ceremony
The establishment of Automotive Chip Joint Laboratory in collaboration with Chery Automobile is an important measure for the companies to jointly explore automotive-grade chips, and holds great significance for the development of domestic silicon carbide and automotive industries. The companies are committed to developing the automotive-grade chip and automotive industries. Looking ahead, they will work together to solve the application challenge for SiC automotive-grade chip applications, strengthen building the industry ecosystem for automotive-grade chips and the application in vehicles, and jointly drive integrated development of the SiC chip ecosystem, the parts ecosystem and the vehicle ecosystem in China.
Taking this opportunity, YASC will further boost technological innovation, constantly accelerate domestic automotive-grade chip research, development and application, improve product quality, unlock more possibilities in partnership with the automotive industry, and contribute to rapid development of the Chinese automotive-grade chip industry.
