Chen Zhongguo, President of YASC, and Xu Deming, Vice President of Operations, delivered remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony, and express warm congratulations on the launch of the project. Today were brought together at YASC, and stand at the forefront of the times for the shared belief in third-generation semiconductors. As long as the direction and method are right, the goal will be realized if we keep it going, said Xu Deming. We are confident that the Wuhan Base construction will become a powerful booster for the development of the company, and drive YASC to become a leader in the Chinese third-generation semiconductor industry and compete in the international market.”

Chen Zhongguo noted in his remarks that in the silicon carbide industry, “capacity is king” has always been the creed in the industry. Especially with the rollout of 800V new energy vehicles, the silicon carbide market will see explosive growth in 2025. As such, the company has begun forward-looking planning for the Wuhan Base construction when it was reorganized in 2022, and since then picked up pace all the way. Today it celebrated the start of the construction.

The successful commencement of Wuhan Base marks an important step the company has taken in the third-generation semiconductor field, and will inject strong impetus to the company’s high-speed development in the silicon carbide industry, he emphasized. While reducing costs, the base will provide sufficient production capacity guarantee for further expansion and customer services in the future business.

The YASC Wuhan Base is located at the Optics Valley Science Island, and the total project investment is expected to exceed CNY 20 billion. The first phase of the project, with a total investment of CNY 10 billion, can produce 360,000 SiC MOSFET wafers a year, including epitaxy, device design, wafer manufacturing and assembly. The construction in the first phase is scheduled to be completed in 2025. Wuhan Base will then become the largest SiC power semiconductor manufacturing base in China, and the company will be an absolute industry leader in production capacity.

The threshold of the semiconductor industry is very high, but the higher the threshold is, the more the hard power matters, said Chen Zhongguo. For YASC, now talent, capital and plants are all put in place, and the next thing to do is to fully devote its time and energy into hard work and get the product right. He believes, the company will open up new horizons in the years ahead.

Stand at a new starting point, embark on a new journey. Taking the groundbreaking ceremony of Wuhan base as an opportunity, YASC will continuously accelerate the development of the silicon carbide industry, step up breakthroughs and innovations on core technologies in key fields, and move faster towards a leading wide bandgap semiconductor company in the world”.
