Guo Yuanqiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Wuhan Municipal Committee, and Chen Yongwen, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Wuhan Municipal Committee and Mayor of Wuhan Municipal People’s Government, met with a team led by Ma Jie, Chairman of Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company (“YOFC”), Zhuang Dan, Executive Director and President of YOFC, Chairman of Anhui YOFC Advanced Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (“YASC”), and Chen Zhongguo, President of YASC, on August 25, and witnessed the signing of a semiconductor cooperation project between the Administration Committee of Wuhan East Lake Hi-tech Development Zone and YASC.

Guo Yuanqiang expressed thanks to YOFC for its long-term presence in Wuhan and contribution to economic and social development in the city. Now, Wuhan is thoroughly studying and implementing the guiding principles from the 20th CPC National Congress and General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech in an inspection tour of Wuhan, Hubei, further advancing the innovation-driven development strategy, making solid progress in building Wuhan into a scientific, technological and innovation center with national influence, establishing a modern industrial system, accelerating the transformation of the economic growth model, speeding up the building of “Optics Valley of World”, and unswervingly promoting high-quality development, he said. YOFC is a global leader in the optical fiber and cable. He hopes YOFC to play the leading role of an industry leader, increase investments, accelerate project construction, strength research, development and breakthroughs on technologies, drive high-quality development of the optoelectronic information industry in the city, and continue its “unique” advantage; fully leverage its international vision and investment & operation advantages, drive “bringing in” high-end factors such as capital, technology and talents and “going out” of distinctive and competitive local industries, and help building Wuhan into a new frontier of inland opening-up in the new era. “We will do our best to provide good services and foster a favorable environment for enterprises to develop and grow in Wuhan.”
Ma Jie expressed appreciation to Party committees and governments at all levels in Wuhan for their long-term understanding and support of YOFC. Wuhan, a national central city under construction and a core city in the Yangtze Economic Belt, has continuously improved the environment for making innovations and starting businesses in recent years, and sustained a good momentum in high-quality economic and social development, he said. YOFC will firmly reinforce its presence in Wuhan, further deepen cooperation with East Lake Hi-tech Development Zone, step up breakthroughs on technologies, move faster with the YASC Wuhan Base project construction, and make greater contributions to promoting industrial transformation and upgrading and high-quality social development in Wuhan.

After the meeting, the Administration Committee of Wuhan East Lake Hi-tech Development Zone and YASC signed a cooperation agreement on the third-generation semiconductor power device research, development and production base project. The total investment of the YASC third-generation semiconductor power device research, development and production base project is expected to exceed CNY 20 billion. The first phase of the project, with a total investment of about CNY 10 billion, can produce 360,000 SiC MOSFET wafers a year, including epitaxy, device design, wafer manufacturing and assembly, and will help Wuhan build a national frontier for the compound semiconductor industry.
