Xu Zhi, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Wuhu Municipal Committee and Mayor of Wuhu Municipal People’s Government, and his delegation made an inspection tour at YASC in the afternoon of March 21.He deeply learned about the company’s cutting-edge technologies and production/operation in third-generation semiconductors, represented by silicon carbide (SiC), and pointed the way for development.

Wuhu has focused on new quality productive forces in recent years. It has prioritized fostering the third-generation semiconductor industry, basically built a complete industrial chain covering third-generation semiconductor material, design, manufacturing, assembly and test (AT), application module and sales, and become an important innovation hub and production base of third-generation semiconductors in Anhui Province.

YASC has always specialized in third-generation semiconductor power device research, development and production since its inception. As a key enterprise in Wuhu’s third-generation semiconductor industry, it has the full manufacturing capabilities in the entire industrial chain from epitaxial growth, device design and wafer fabrication to module assembly and test. At the research site, Xu Zhi and his delegation first visited the production line of YASC Wuhu Base wafer fab, and learned in detail the SiC manufacturing process and main techniques.

Later at a meeting, Chen Zhongguo, President of YASC, briefed the research team on the company’s development and operation, as well as downstream and upstream development of SiC industrial chain, market competition environment and industry development trend forecast, and also introduced the company’s development planning and investment plan in recent years.

The semiconductor industry has important strategic value in the long run, and especially in the silicon carbide field, more than half of the main application market is in China,” said Chen Zhongguo. “I believe, we’ll surely gain something as long as we hold on and stay committed to the right direction.”

Xu Zhi fully affirmed YASC’s innovation achievements and strategic layout in the conversation, and responded to the relevant requirements for next strategic development raised by the company. For the third-generation semiconductor sector as one of core pillar industries in Wuhu, he encouraged YASC to keep tabs on technology and industry development trends, tap into the opportunity of domestic substitutes, strengthen collaborative innovation with leading local automotive and photovoltaic companies, strive to create technology breakthroughs in various segments such as automotive-grade chip R&D, and grow bigger and stronger in Wuhu. At the same time, he asked the relevant authorities directly under the Municipal Government and Yijiang District to go all out to facilitate solving development challenges, foster a world-class business environment, and help enterprises make steady and sustained progress.
